My 08 Limited came with the 2-prong 115v outlet in the back of the center console. The owners manual warns of serious harm if you use a 3-prong adapter, has anyone attempted it, or had any problems? I'd like to use it to power my laptop. Thx!

The third prong is a ground. You do not have a dedicated ground with a two prong outlet. You can use a two prong plug to power your laptop. A car is isolated from any ground when moving because of the rubber tires. The purpose of the ground is for safety it normally protects you from any possible shock by connecting the item you are using to a ground connection like a cold water pipe to earth.

One other thought, The 115V is almost certainly provided by an invertor that changes DC to AC. Some are sine wave but the less expensive ones are square wave. The wattage of the invertor might also be small. I would not try to run anything that uses a lot aof power, like a power tool.
