Check the specs on 275/60/18. I'm no tire expert. This was a size I was checking out for myself before.

Thanks jeep5253 but I am looking to go with 18" and not 17" so wasn't sure what tire size is equal to 265/70/17 in an 18. And was looking at nitto tires.

Wouldn't it be 265/70/18 ?

I suspect he is trying to keep the overall diameter the same or close.
A 265 would be the same width, regardless of diameter, but a tire that is 70% as tall (sidewall) is going to be a fair amount taller comparing a 17" to a 18"
The odds are something along the lines of a 265/55/18 or 265/50/18 would be comparable, outside diameter, to a 265/70/17......that is on the assumption a dimension like that is even available.

I think I got that right, (its early)

You are correct. A 265/70/17 and a 265/70/18 are two totally different sizes (higth) wise.

There was a good tire comparison site that I used to have but can't seem to find it. It had side by side grafics to show the difference, too. Argg, I'll keep looking for it.

There is a little difference. According to the tire size calculator on the Discount tire website (http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/infoTireMath.dos):

Both tires have the same sidewall height = 7.3 inches

Both tires have the same width = 10.43 inches

The overall diameter of the 18 is 1 inch more than the 17

The circumference of the 18 is 3.15 inches more than the 17

The 18 will give 19.57 less revolutions per mile than the 17 (618.53 compared to 638.1)

If speedometer is reading 65 mph actual speed will be 67.06 with the 18

I think i have it. I went to a local custom shop today and they said that with a 2" lift i shoud be able to fit a LT275/65/18 Nitto Terra Grappler with XD HOSS rims and be fine. He said it is only a 32" tall tire and is 10.83" wide . would this be correct ? If so it is only 11mm taller and 10mm wider than a 265/70/17. thanks IAMJEEP that was an awsome site alot of help.
