Hello Everyone, I just bought a 06 Jeep Commander yesterday. Hoping to learn all I can from here.

Should I expect any problems with this Beautiful looking Jeep?

The first pic of her...
Depends on how diligent the PO was in fixing things when they failed. I discovered several things wrong when I bought mine and they were all because the PO failed to fix them when he had it. I am slowly chipping away at them but they all cost money. Enjoy it and take care of it.

It's got the V8 4.7 engine with 63,000 miles and runs great. Very Clean too, must have been garage kept.

This Jeep replaced my 03 Grand Cherokee Laredo that had 140,000 on it that was literally falling apart. (Previous owner killed it)

The only problem I see so far is the seat belt light stays on when a passenger is in it. I'll figure that out soon.

Thinking about putting on some Nerf Bars, a Push bar, raise it 2 inches and some bigger Wheels and Tires... We'll see.

and an Exhaust!!!

Welcome to the forum;

The very first thing I would do in your position would be to go to the website below and plug in your VIN to see if all the factory re-calls & campaigns have been completed:

Safety Recall Information | MOPAR

The difference between a safety recall and a campaign is that a safety recall pertains to a vehicle problem that is a safety concern; a campaign is a vehicle problem that is not a safety concern, but, pertains to customer satisfaction.

If there are any factory recalls or campaigns that are outstanding, that should be your very first order of business.

Thanks, I will look into that first. It's only been 2 days and I'm really liking this Jeep. Love the power, the ride and the color... Dark Khaki.

My wife wants air horns in it now too. Anyone here ever put them in theirs? Horns, compressor and air tank. Where to fit these in???

All Recalls were performed. Last night I noticed my drivers inside door handle cracked. I see a whole bunch of talk about those.

Add that to my list...

The cheap fix with epoxy has worked for years for me. There is a thread about it out there. Welcome to the forum

Mine is broken in many places and the handle is sitting on a strange angle too. I need to figure out what color it is to order a new one. I can't tell if it's tan or gray???

I was able to superglue the plastic together then reinforce it with epoxy. The reason the handle is at a strange angle is the plastic where the pin rests is broken. A sleeve and epoxy was all it took once I had the pieces in place.

I left mine broken for three years (until I sold my Commander) ... still operated the door .. but it had to be manually tapped back in to make the door lock every time I used it.

I ordered the handle assembly for only $21 and change. I just hope I ordered the correct color. The Jeep dealers told me that I would have to buy the whole door panel to fix it at over $300... That's crazy!

@ricks ;

There should be a sticker (white sticker with black print) on the inside of your front driver's side and front passenger's door jams that has the factory color code on it - usually in a 3 letter abbreviation.

I would also recommend that you e-mail or call Chrysler customer service with the last 8 characters of your VIN number and request a factory build sheet - which will list all of the options & packages your Commander had installed from the factory (including the factory paint color) so you don't have to guess about what features your XK does, or doesn't have.

Chrysler's customer service e-mail address and phone number are below;

1-800-4A-DODGE (1-800-423-6343).
