First post! I have been a long time stalker/reader on here and I cannot seem to find a problem like I am having now.

Like the title says, I am having a loud "clunk" from the front end. This seems to happen every time I am slowing down on a small hill in my neighbor. It almost sounds like a violent, loud downshift but the rev's do not change, or I do not notice it, when this happens.

I am not sure if this is coming from the transfer case or the transmission, but it seems more like the transfer case area.

Also, I changed the diff/transfer case fluid and it seems that the TF has been out at some point as I can see permatex sealant around the case and there is almost always a drop of fluid hanging off of it.

Has anyone had this problem or have any suggestions for me to trouble shoot it?

Thanks in advance for any help.
