Hey all. Just picked up a 2006 commander base model for the wifey with 120,000 miles. She's liking it so far, a good mix between the liberty I used to have and the pilot she used to have. Lol. I sure miss that NAV/camera though...are commander parts interchangeable?

I'm pretty sure We are going to need more information than what you have given.

Welcome to the forum, if you take your time you can find info that you may need right now, but in the search the problem at hand may be solved and I'll bet in the process you'll find something else that interests you

Welcome to the forum jopina7807;

We definitely need more information;

What parts specifically you are talking about replacing?

What is the model year & powertrain of the Commander you would be getting your replacement parts from?

A few questions about your Commander;

I understand you said you have a base-model which is the Sport;

What power-train does it have?

Is it a 4x4 or 4x2?

If it's a 4x4 - which 4WD system does it have?

QT-I; QT-II or QD-II?

How many miles are on it?

Any modifications?

It's a 2006 base model with 118,000 miles, v8, 4x4, color code PX8.

At the moment it has an aftermarket stereo but am wanting to put an OEM stereo in it. My question is will the REC radio fit in the jeep? I'm assuming it's a double din stereo and will need the double din trim kit to fit in there...I've found a good deal but just need to make sure it will actually work in there before I buy it.

Ok. With the REC unit does it have the option/capability of adding a rear view camera to it? How reliable are the units themselves? Would I be better served getting an after market double din that has nav and the rear view option?

No there was no backup camera available in 06. Mine worked for 10 years now the screen flutters and has colored lines on it.

My 2006 Limited came from the factory with the back up camera. But it was a very late 2006 model year build.

Ok, I gotta figure when the car was built. I've found a few REC units, with NAV disc included, for sub $300, adding in a rear view camera, that would put me sub $400.

I'm trying to figure out if I should with this option or just go after market with CarPlay and some other things included.

I think you would be better off getting an aftermarket unit. They tend to have many more features than the OEM unit.

Mine was a very early 06, Igot it in Feb 06 and it had been at the dealer for a few months, as the dealer/owner personal truck. Had5k on it when I bought it.

THANKS ALL! I accidentally bought on eBay an REC unit for $200 so I guess I'll be going with that lol. Just gotta look at my camera options as my liftgate trim doesn't have a spot for the oem camera.

NEW DISCOvery today: found out the jeep o Lyn has one exhaust, though there are two outlets at the back. I wasn't wondering why only one side was making noise or heating up so I looked under the back and saw one exhaust pipe line and the other just attached lol. Funny. I'll post a photo when I get a chance
