I have my sights set on some Fuel Maverick wheels. Only problem is, they only offer them in a 20x10 size for our 5x5 hub. Do you think they would look fine on a set of 285/55/20 tires? They offer the wheels with -19 offset which is roughly equivalent to 4.75 bs, which is what im looking for. But they have 2 different bores, 78.1 and 87.1, whats the difference? I dont want the tires to appear that they are like over-inflated onto the rim.. I would either be using that tire size or a 305/55/20 tire that im not that worried about. I have 285/70/17 right now with no rubbing. Also next summer i will have a custom 6 inch lift with hopefully 35's and wider tires. Thanks for any help in advance.

....and your running 285/70's with no rubbing??? Are you currently on stock wheels? If so what size spacers are you running? The 285/55R20's are about 32.4 inches tall but mounted on those wheels they would sit out crazy far. I'm running 285/70's on a 17x8 with 0 offset and my tires and wheels stick out about an inch past the flares. With that setup you would sit out a good inch and a half farther then mine. What do you have done to fit 33's on your 2 inch spacer lift with no rubbing?

Never mind. Read your garage thread. But those 20x10's will still stick out far

Well I'm extremely confused then... Cause according to the post by Discount Tire about the backspace and offset, the stock XK wheels have a 6" backspace. Then with my 1.25" wheel spacers that makes it like i have 4.75 backspaced wheels. So, with those 20x10 wheels having a 4.75" backspace, how will they be any different then what i'm running right now..?

I answered in your other post. BTW You answered your own question. Two wheels with the same back spacing yet one wheel is 2.5 inches wider. That extra 2.5 inches has to go somewhere.

Do you plan on running a mud terrain, all terrian or a performance street tire on those 20x10's?

Wouldnt that extra 2.5 inches go in toward the body though? I really like these wheels, I wish they came in 20x9 :p

I guess what I should be asking is, if I did get 20x10, what kinda backspace should I be looking at? Since a 20x9 is 1.5" wider than our stock wheels, does that mean if i went with that wheel, i would be looking for a wheel with 5.75" backspace or even 6"?

Nope, because they both have the same back spacing. Back spacing is measured from the mounting surface on the inside of the wheel to the outside lip of the wheel. If both wheels have the same back spacing that means the rest of the wheel will move outward past the fender flare.

I can make this a lot easier for you. It sounds like you're dead set on 20's. Let me know what wheels you have your eyes on and ill help you get the perfect width, back spacing and offset.

I just found a 20x9 fuel maverick with +20 offset.. That would stick out about 1/8-1/4 inch more than someone running 1.5" spacers on stock rims correct..? I hope so, I think I finally got this now lol. I wish someone could post some pics of 1.5 wheel spacers from the front or back so i can see how much they stick out the side!

Those wheels have 5.8 inches of back spacing. So basically to answer your question, yes it will stick out about 1/8 - 1/4 inch farther then someone with 1.5 inch spacers

Just remember to be careful when wourking with a wheel thats got close to stock backspacing when running taller tires. Then you start to get close to the upper control arm ball joint bolt.

Thanks for all the help man.

Ultimately decided on 20x9 Fuel Octane wheels. +14mm offset, and 5.5" Backspace. Will most likely be running 285/55r20 for right now!

Nice. Make sure you post pictures once they are installed. They should sit outside the flare just like my setup

Did you ever end up fitting these tires on your commander? I've got the same set up with a 2 in RC lift and was wondering what tires I can run with my 20 inch moto metals?

I currently run a 20x8.5 +18mm offset with 275/55-20 Nitto TG with no rubbing and no pinch weld mod. Also have 2" RC lift.
