I am going to need tires soon and I really want BFG ATs on my Commander. I want to run the 265 70 17 ATs. I dont want to run spacers. So I am gonna buy wheels when its time. I planned on getting an offset wheel to compensate for not having a spacer. I want this tire also to keep the load range in a C so they are not too stiff

Any issues with this specific tire with the Ball joint bolt or any major rubbing?

I have the Tera 2" lift

Thanks

I also tried searching with out a def answer

I'd say if you get different wheels with like -12mm offset and 4.5" of backspace you should clear it...

I never have liked spacers. I used to work at a tire shop and had a few experiences with them that were not good. I know everyone says Spydertrax are the way to go but they still scare me. I really just think the wheel should be directly mounted to the hub/rotor. Just another failure point for the Jeep.

I know people will tell me til they are blue in the face but its just the way I feel!

The size wheel you just recommended is equivalent to a 17x9. The reason I know this is because the only wheel that can have 4.5 inches of back spacing and having an offset of -12 is a 9 inch wide wheel. With that being said, a 265/70R17 is not wide enough to run on a 9 inch wide wheel. Yes im sure you could make it fit but I sure wouldnt recommend doing it.

For that tire size, i'd recommend buying a 17x8 wheel with 4.5 inches of back spacing. The offset would be equivalent to +0. The only problem with this wheel is its going to sit out approx 2.5 inches further then stock and i'm not sure if thats what you are looking for. Its hard to find wheels with a good back spacing for the XK because 99% of wheels with a 5x5 bolt pattern are made for the JK.

Also AEV has a 17x8.5 wheel designed specifically for the XK that I'd recommend. There site says it has 5.3 inches of back spacing, but i called them and they stated that its actually 5.75 inches from the mounting surface to the edge of the wheel. This would space it out 3/4 of an inch further then stock and you wouldnt rub on the ball joint bolt.

On the BFGoodrich they suggest up to a 8.5 inch wide rim for that tire, I put a set of Hanook RF10 265/70/17 c rated on my 17x9 but they guide and hanook tech's also said that itwas fine to do.
The AEV wheels are an excellent choice if you really are set on BFGs Reasonably priced!

Too bad you live so far from me I have a set of 265 70 17 Cooper Discoverer AT's on Dodge rims. I only had 600 miles on them when I traded for my new commander. The dealer said they would fit so I put the old wheels and tires back on the Dodge Ram before I traded. You can guess the rest of the story. I will be putting them on EBay next week.
