3.0 CRD Crankcase Breather

Had the engine cover off today to locate the Camshaft Position Sensor. Found that OK, but noticed a rubber pipe coming off the plastic air intake to the turbo. It looks like a d.i.y. modification and not what should be there. The bulkhead end of the rubber pipe is moist with weeping oil, so I'm assuming it's a makeshift crankcase breather pipe. Does anyone have any idea what should actually be there rather than this homemade d.i.y. arrangement?
