Looking to do a trans filter change on my 5.7 and get a pan that has a drain plug.

I could not find a definitive answer on whether the 545rfes have a deep or shallow pan?

I have concluded that I have the deep pan.

Does anyone know how to tell for sure?

I can’t confidently say which pan is for what, but I happened to get the 2wd sump filter sent to me accidentally and it would not allow the pan to sit flush on the trans. Also, to possibly save you the headache, here is a guy installing his own drain plug.
. Video is a Dakota, but the same trans.

Yeah, the first link you posted showed a good pic of the difference in the pans. The deep pan is the one that looks like mine and would assume looks like yours. I didn't even bother adding a plug myself or getting a new pan, but it would definitely be a plus to be able to drain it that way. I somehow managed to keep the mess to a minimum!!!

well, went with the dorman 265-817 trans pan and wix 58843 filter set w/ gasket. both the pan and filter fit perfect. gasket worked great too. a 1/4 ratch and extension with swivel makes getting to all the pan bolts much easier.
