I bought my '09 Commander Overland and did not know some things at the time. One headlight seemed a bit purple and the other was bright as can be. It was after 6 PM and the service department was closed at the time. The sales manager said that they would replace the light. Neither of us knew that an OEM light retails for $250.00.

Another thing I did not know when I got only one FOBIK was that a new one has to be programmed by the dealer and their price is $178 for a new FOBIK plus $40 programming. I got a new FOBIK on ebay for $36.00.

I went in today to get my new FOBIK programmed and have them fix the headlight. The sales department gave up the expensive light for no charge. Then the service dept forgot to inform the mechanic that I was providing my own key and they programmed and cut a new OEM JEEP FOBIK. NOw that it's programmed they had no use for the key. I got to keep my ebay FOBIK, got a new, programmed FOBIK and a free car wash!

All for NO CHARGE!

Got home and successfully programmed my ebay key so now I have 3 keys.

Yes, I did stop and buy a LOTTO ticket on the way home!:woot::woot::woot:

Every used Chrysler vehicle should come with 2 keys, they usually don't because the original owner doesn't replace the key when he loses it because the Dealer and Corporate Charges a 5,000% profit on a $7 electronic key that needs 5 minutes of programming with the Dealers Proprietary tool. Because of the cost the Dealer also balks at providing you the 2nd key they should.

The fact the overwhelming majority of customers are only getting a single key should clue Chrysler into the fact their key system is broken, but they don't fix it.

I looked up the price for the bulb. No way is it $250. Maybe for the whole assembly but not just for a bulb. Either way, free is good. The key fob situation well, I was just a bit overwhelmed with buying such a badass vehicle that I didn't even think about a 2nd key.

On further checking I see that it takes these Xenon vacuum tube laser beam bulb things.
