Air Shocks not Bags

I know....this may be a stupid question....but here we go.....

30 some years ago, we used air shocks to lift the back of the cars.

You could use air shocks to raise and lower the car as you need to. Does anyone still do that? What about using airshocks instead of a lift?

Re: Mods 2 Go
Took some measurements of the springs, shocks, and struts in preparation for an air lift.
Since no one makes an air lift kit for the Commander, I guess I'll have to piece one together.

Normal ride height/.....Fully extended/.AIRBAG dropped/..ride height/..extended..

Frt strut spring 10" /...........13"....../.........4"........../......6.5"...../......9.25"...../......2"-3" spacer on front bags

Rear spring .... 9.5"/..........12.5"...../.........6"........../.....10"......./......14".......

Rear shock ..20.75"/..........24"

Rear

I know that this is available as an option from the factory on Yukons.
