Starting this out in the general forum because it's part interior, part exterior, and part suspension. I installed AirLift 1000 rear airbags a couple months ago to help when towing, and finally intstalled an onboard compressor.

The controller / gauge comes with a pod mount, but I wanted something more integrated. I removed the dash and decided to use one of the vent outlets to hold the gauge.


The vents pop out from behind the dash. The hole was too big, of course. So I took the vent apart to use the bezel part.

And of course the mount wasn't thick enough. So I thickened it with hot glue. Once it dried, I trimmed edges (not shown).


I also used long tin snips to cut the top vent tube into several strips. I folded them down so the duct only pointed at the lower vent, then stuffed insulation behind the upper vent.

Part 2

The pressure sensor and wiring harness fits securely under the dash:


I already used the grommet in the firewall, and didn't want the air hose running through the engine compartment. So I drilled through some cutouts in the floorpan. (First hole shown, I ended up with 2 holes - 1 for the wire and 1 for the air line). Added a grommet to each.


The compressor itself went in the back in the empty space left by the former spare tire. It came with self-tapping screws, but the mounting area had some bends. So I went with bolts and fender washers.

The compressor sits above the frame rail. I would have to be more than axle-deep in water before it get touched. I'm also going to fabricate a shield for spray (not that it ever rains here).


Still some wiring cleanup to do, and it seems I have a very slow leak to track down. With all of the connections, I'm not surprised. But now I have air!
