Have a question about the alarm system on my jeep commander. The security light doesn't blink for 15 seconds when the doors are locked. However when they key is turned to the on position the light does stay on for 3 seconds as stated in the owners manual. Could this be a fuse or possibly the alarm is disabled?

After locking the jeep with your fob, wait a couple minutes and then stick your ignition key in the driver's door and unlock it (don't unlock it with the fob). If your security system is indeed enabled, your alarm will immediately go off when you open the door. Start the engine to disable the alarm. I suppose if this does not cause the alarm to go off, your security system is not engaging.

Schlagel's description is what I remember reading in the OM, it sounds like a perfect way to confirm if the alarm is working like it should.

When you lock the doors, you are outside the vehicle and use the remote to lock the doors?

I don't know, but I can imagine if you're inside the car and lock the doors manually, like hitting the button on the door, or outside the vehicle locking the door before closing, that it doesn't enable the alarm, I don't really know. The impression I got from the OM was that hitting lock on the remote on the Fobik enabled the alarm as it locked the doors. So logically if you lock the doors in an alternate manner, it might not enable the alarm.

My alarm will arm with the both the key fob
and at the door panel. If you're in the Jeep,
and lock the doors it will not arm unless the
door is open. *will not arm if the doors are closed*
(at the door panel)

Something else I just tried. If I arm the alarm
then close the door, the unlock button gets
disabled on the door. You can still pull up on
the lock, open the door, and the alarm will sound.

(Mine's an 06, years may vary)

Wish I could be of more help to the OP, but I
lost the FSM.
