This is my second post, so please be kind.
I have read just about all of the posts here and in other forums pertaining to the pioneer avic z1, z2, and z3. I myself have a ford F150 and I run this unit in it, and now my wife likes mine more than her factory one in her 06 Jeep Commander limited edition because of the touchscreen. I want to gather as much information as I can before I start this install on her commander.

The 06 Commander has the OEM Nav/6 CD premium Boston audio system.
Of course it has the audio controls on the steering wheel as well.

From what I have gathered this is what is need to do the install seamlessly.

Head Unit.
Metra CHTO-01 Interface
120996510 Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep Kit 2005-u 2005-up from Crutchfield - Can Bus
12040CR10 Chrysler Antenna Adapter Motor Motorola M to OEM antenna
pac SWI-CAN - Steering Wheel Controls

Is this all that is needed?

Can you use the existing antenna? I did this in my ford, by cutting the existing cable on the GPS antenna, and splicing it with a special automotive connector (FAKRA-SMB). If no one ever spliced the gps antenna, where did you locate the aftermarket antenna.

I appreciate all comments and suggestions.

Thanks for your help!!!

I hadn't considered selling the OEM unit. The only reason I wouldn't is if we ever sell the Jeep, I would pull the Pioneer out and put the OEM back in. We paid 2250 for it when we purchased the vehicle new in 2007. and I know its not worth that now, but do you think its worth selling?

Thanks
