I went out to start my 2007 Commander, V6 on Sunday and I had nothing. The car didn't even try to turn over, no dash light, indicators, nothing. Took the battery out and took it to have it looked at, the friendly people at Autozone told me that it had 0 charge on it and that they would have to charge the battery to check if it was ok or not. After an hour they told me that the battery was fine, so I assumed that it must be the alternator, but I have been driving normally since Sunday and have experienced no issue with the vehicle not starting or any other electrical issues. I talked with the dealer and they told me that if it was the alternator that I would only be able to keep a charge for an hour or so.

I did verify that there was nothing on inside the car that would drain the battery with it not running and there is no rust on the posts of the battery. Everything looks good under the hood, as far as I can see.

Has anyone else experience such an issue and if so, what was the culprit?

I didnt use the jeep for about a month then my wife used it and it bearly turned on after that she came home and two days later I tried to turn it on, the battery was dead took it to autozone and said it was not holding a charge that I needed a new battery. So my solution I had to buy a new battery.

I've been driving it stead for a week with no issues and hasn't happened again.

I did talk with buddy that works a dealership and he told me that there is a wire from the positive terminal that goes to the starter that has been problematic, I guess after time it shorts out the starter. Anyone heard of this or had a simular repair?

My 06 went dead last week (hot day - original battery), tried to jump and just clicked (cheap jumpers) - tried jump for 20 min and still no different. Removing jump absolutely no lights. Shorted battery (6 yrs old)- replaced and all OK
You may have the the same problem, but when you took it out or moved it you may have dislodged the short inside the battery - it will come back. The short is from decay of plates settling in the bottom of the battery. If 5 or more years old - time for a new one - mine $165:( at advanced auto.

I'm still on the original battery in my '06 also. It can't last much longer.
