Beware,it looks like I was Scammed!

Either the forum has been hacked or there is a nefarious user but I thought I bought a Flashpaq tuner, but instead I got scammed out of $180. I replied to Selling a (Superchips 3875 Flashpaq for Jeep 4.0L TJ... thread about wanting to buy the flash pack tuner. Was not paying attention and got messaged by this forum member

who told me to email his Buddie "[email protected]" He had the tuner. So I did agreed to a price and he has gone dark. Further research shows that this email is used a lot on these types of forums to scam people. In my case I only paid $180 in stupid tax. I guess that is what excitement and Nievitay will get you.

Still need a Tuner is anybody know anyone legit that has one.

@JoeFirearms We are sorry this happened to you. As far as I know this is the first time this has happened on this forum. Hehu6 has now been permanently banned from the forum. Again, we are sorry about this. We try hard to keep scammers from joining but sometimes it happens.

I get it. It is what it is. I just wish yomahomie03 would respond if inf act he has the tuner. I will still buy It. I have tires going on in the morning. He looks legit as he has posted in the past, but who knows at this point.

@JoeFirearms I checked out @yomahomie03 and it looks like he is legit as he has been a member since 2012 and has been fairly active. I believe Hehu6 saw your post saying you were interested in the tuner and then he (she) messaged you.

Yes I have come to the same conclusion. @yomahomie03 just has never responded to me.

So, going back & looking at that thread, when I asked you if @yomahomie03 had gotten in touch with you, you told me he had & that the Tuner was inbound;

It wasn't actually him/her, that you were corresponding with?

Nevermind, I just re-read your post & I think I see what happened.

Kind of wondering what made you respond to @Hehu6 who just messaged you out of the blue.

If you would have looked at his user statistics, he was fairly new to the forum (joined this past January) and had not posted at all, which is definitely a red flag to me.

Live & learn I guess.

100 % he saw this sucker coming. I made assumptions and well you know what I got. I tracked his IP Adress and he is in Nebraska of anyone wants to "visit him". At the end of the day it's only money and pride. I can make more money and my wife says I have pride to spare.

I hear you @JoeFirearms , none the less, I'm sorry you had this experience here.

We try to do as much as we can, to protect our membership from people & experiences like this.

That's why the buy/sell forum rules are so stringent;

If I had my way, we wouldn't have a "Classifieds" Section on this forum.

It's more trouble than it's worth, in my opinion.

did you use a credit card, dispute the charge... but that may be the limit of what you can do.

I've sent money with Zelle many times;

I have never had a problem;

That being said, I would imagine they have some type of dispute process;

. That is terrible. It is the time we are in don’t lose hope in your fellow man. I was scammed once years ago for 2200.00. A Nigerian got me I was dumb enough to send the money. If it is too good to be true then caution it might not be?

All Good. Life goes on. There never seems to be a shortage of dirtbags out there. I have been tracking this ones IP Address since it happened. He will get his.
