I'm looking at some point to upgrade the wheels and tires on my Commander and I've narrowed my tire selection to two so far (either the new Goodyear MTR with Kevlar or the new BF Goodrich MT KM2).

The harder part is picking out the wheels. I've found a wheel I like (**** Cepek DC-1) and they come in 3 finishes - chrome, polished or black and polished. My choice is narrowed between the polished or the black and polished.

Is anyone out there running a black wheel on their dark kaki commander? Just wanted to get an idea of what it might look like. I've tired to find a site that allows you to place the wheels on your vehicle to get an idea of what it looks like but haven't been successful in finding a website with that functionality that carries **** Cepek wheels.

Here's the black version I'm talking about...

What are your thoughts?

I haven't shopped around a lot yet but looks like 180ish. I love the look, the polised one look wicked as well. I'm just torn on how the black will look on the dark kaki. It my rig was black, silver or red there would be no question, I'd order the black version and call it a day.

This wheels have 4.53" of backspace and the offset is -12mm.

Not to be biased since I'm running the MT/R's with Kevlar but I spoke with several guys at Rausch Creek Off Road Park last trip that have used the BF Goodrich KM2's and they werent pleased with them. They said they absolutely suck in the mud. Anyother guy I spoke with is now running the MT/R's and had the KM2's on prior and even said he liked the MT/R's better! Just my .02

If you are going to run off road I would consider a different rim, if you are staying on the pavement they look great.

It's probably going to be an 80/20 split with 80% on road. I've already got it in my head that the rims are going to take a beating.

07JeepXk - How do you like the Goodyears so far? I really haven't made a decision yet so thanks for giving me the heads up. Do you have some picks with the Goodyears on your rig? Also any rubbing issues with the 265's? I'll be getting the RR lift hopefully next week and am still pondering on tire size.

Why do you say that ? Is it something about the way they are made ? I thought that was what **** Cepek is famous for - off road.
They are famous for off road, but make street rims as well. As long as you are okay with chips, scrapes, dents, etc. then you can take the dressy rims off road.

Thanks for the heads up 49er! My initial thoughts are that I won't beat on the Commander like I did my CJ5 and my CJ8 - both of those had the old steel 15" wagon wheels that would take a beating like crazy. I did some more looking around and Cragar makes a black 8 hole wheels that is inexpensive (like 60-70 bucks) and they are steel so they should hold up to some abuse.

I may have to think about this one a bit. I do think those DC-1's would look nice, still not sure of how black will look on my dark Khaki though.
