Hey team,
Doing front pads/rotors on my wife's Commander. Do I need the "retainer clip" to hold the rotor? There isn't one on there because I probably cut and tossed it when I did the first brake job.

I checked online and it's indeed something that's sold (see below) and used... but I just don't know if it's really needed.

Retainer, Brake Rotor

Thanks neighbor!

So what's your opinion on the grease for the pad-to-slide hardware? I usually use it but wonder if that just attracts dirt and debris.

I use silicone grease on the slides.
But, only a coating like fingerpainting....no heavy blobs.
The idea is to prevent corrosion at the slide surfaces and yes, a bit of debris will be drawn to the lube.
But it never seems to bind anything so I wouldn't give it any concern.
