I would like to add a cold air intake to my 3.7 V6. Has anyone installed one and where did you find it? I've found many inconsistencies in prices and fitment. So I'd like to hear it straight from someone with experience. I'm not looking to modify one made for a 4.7; only one made for my engine.

Also for those who have installed one, was it worth it? I mean, for what you paid, did you feel like there was enough performance, MPG, etc. gain to justify it? (WAF)

I've searched for this. I'm sorry. I cannot find what I am truly after.

I have the K&N intake for the 3.7. I got it off of K&N's website. I think it is worth it in the performance and response gains I got. If you are looking for it to save you money at the pump your better off putting that $240 on a gas card and using it for that because the 1mpg gain will take a long time to make up for the CIA price in fuel. This mod just makes me want more, I am looking into exhaust headers and exhaust for added HP.

I believe I just sent you a PM. I stand by the gains in performance, but gains in MPG is barely noticeable. But for the V6, the K&N intake is a must and it does make a huge difference in performance.

I agree with Dabitz there the K&N is quite a nice boost in performance. Now there are 2 options to choose from I went with the cheaper of the two. But the 77 seems to perform better at a lower RPM in my opinion than the 63 kit I got. ;)

Hey Guys

Dabitz I believe you sent that PM to me. I also have a V6 and am looking to install a CAI as well. I live mostly around a populated area so I spend more time in the city than on back country roads and the highway. I gotta tell ya I would like just a little more hp from the ol' Commander. But honestly it wasn't until after I test drove it and started looking on this forum that I got the idea in my head that the V6 was underpowered. I mean I will be using it mostly to haul a canoe, kayak, or drums around + friends. But really the last vehicle I had was a Jeep Cherokee (God I loved that car), but it was time for change and more dependability. Although I will say that the commander is not as peppy as the cherokee, it makes up for it in spaciousness, smoother ride and niceties that the cherokee lacked. Also, I got it slightly used and saved about 10-12K on price and it was fully loaded, so the fact that it was a V6 did not cross my mind completely. Maybe I was being stupid. But I find most of the ones i see tend to be V6's and God knows i could care less to have a Hemi. If I wanted to haul something or be in race I would get a diesel truck or buy a sports car. The Jeep boxiness just stands out to me and that another reason I got it because it reminded me of an upgraded version of my cherokee, But I must say that if they still made the cherokee with the I-6 i would have gotten another. I would like to know how many others have V6's too.

Anyone else?

I am hoping to make the CAI mod in a few months, and you know I almost thought about trading the commander back in towards another jeep, but I think I am going to give it some time and try to get used to the difference. Also, if the CAI mod does what so many on this forum claim that it does, then I know it will be worth it for a little better acceleration.

Sorry this is so long guys......

So AKFossil? Which one is better when it comes to acceleration the 77 or the aircharger 63 kit? I don't care as much for top end as I do lower end improvements. Any more suggestions?

I think the 77 would be good accel where as the 63 is better at high end when it comes to HP output (77 hits peak at 4K RPMs and 63 hits peak at 5+K RPMs according to dyno tests)

Also exchanging the water heater muffler for a magnaflow isn't a bad idea either just in weight loss not to mention a making it easier for the v6 to exhale.:D
