2006 Jeep Commander 90,000 miles

Needed a jump start yesterday after fishing.
Vehicle was is direct 86 degree mid day sun.

My portable jump starter did not crank it.
Got a jump from another vehicle.
Took many tries and moved the ground around.
Finally cranked when I put my Jeep in neutral.
The car that jumped me was a small import wagon.
Much smaller battery

After it started I went straight to advanced auto for a battery test.
Measured 710 cca at a rated 765 cca.

Starter was replaced 1 year ago.

Replace the battery? $200
Trickle charge?

The cranking in neutral may have just been a fluke but it did nothing until I did that.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thank you

i recently had the starter and harness replaced because it decided not to start one day. After 10 tries, i left the key in the ON position, get out to look under and it just started. It seems the yellow wire to the starter can corrode.

I'm no battery expert, but 710cca is 90% of 765cca. I'd think that's in tolerance or close to it.

The connector on the starter end of the yellow wire corrodes.

Cut it off, clean it up, get a weatherproof connector, apply dielectric grease, and never worry about it again.
