Has anyone ordered the Mopar cargo mat for the rear. I am trying to decide which one to get. They have on for behind 3rd row only or on that goes to the back of the front seat if second row is folded. Just curious if the bigger folds out of the way if I want to use 2nd row. I want to be able to leave it in all the time. Just curious if anyone had one and how they like it.

There are aftermarket mats galore, check with someplace like Shucks, there's probably one for the Cmdr with the third row down.

Just ordered the one that sits atop the 3rd row seats -- $85 at my dealer. I hope to get it before this weekend and will report back.

On the same subject, has anyone ordered the 'slush' mats from Jeep? I'm a big fan of the well-known weathertech mats and have an older set in my Commander now but they're not custom fit, though they cover the space just fine.

My friend just got his slush mats for his 06 Grand Cherokee and they are pretty sweet. I put some generic mats in mine (don't fit well) but I already ordered the slush mats for mine and should get them tomorrow or the next day.

Purchased the cargo mat tied to the 3rd row seat from the dealer. Folds up for the 3rd row seat nicely but not happy with it down. Not very sturdy and does not anchor well when lying flat. It slides a bit when driving around the city w/the dog in the back. My wife has suggested using Velcro to secure to the back of the 3rd row.

I just got my slush mats. They fit really well. The have a funny slit in the drivers mat which could allow for some stuff to get on the carpet, but the rears are awesome. Overall they are pretty good.

Here's my 2c worth of cheap and good "cargo mat".
I went to Menard's and found the really thin-worsted gray carpet I liked - the closest I could get to color of real carpet. They sell it for 47c per sq. ft so I splurged and bought all the $11 could buy.
I spread this carpet on garage floor and cut it to size. It is now custom fit, light and easily removable and cleanable. With second seat up, the carpet is partially rolled up and is real nice. I don't think you can anything better.

I bought the Cargo mat when I bought my Commander on Saturday. I have dogs that I take to muddy dog parks, and I want some protection in the rear.

Anyway, for all the smart DC Engineers probably working on these things, the Mopar mat doesn't fit all that well. When you use the tethers to wrap around the third row headrests, the mat rides up. One of the things I'm not so crazy about with the Commander is the presence of the pull straps for pulling the seat up. I actually want flat surface when the seats are folded down, which of course I don't get. There is a gap between the second and third rows. The straps are in the way for me... I slide heavy bass speaker cabinets into my truck (180 lbs.), so I'm afraid I'll eventually rip those off. I only mention all of this, because when I put the cargo mat in as the Engineers designed it, the straps end up sticking up. They fit through slots, and when the cargo mat rides forward, as I described before, the slots don't hit where the straps are connected to the seats.

Enough winging, I guess.
Peace!!

I bought one. The one I have fills the whole cargo area when the third row is flat. There are straps that hook to the 3rd row head rest so when you pull those seats up, it folds with it and stays attached to the backs of the seats.

You can cut the mat down the middle for varying seat set ups, but then you have a seem down the middle. I left mine alone.

The slush mats are great - well worth the price.

Hope that helps

Ron

PS - I am getting terrible gas mileage at about 14.9 mpg. I just bought a 3.7L 4x4 . Is this normal???

My dealer called to tell me mine's arrived for pickup..now I'm a bit worried it won't be beefy enough for great protection...I'll let you know.

I am disappointed in the cargo "tray". I have to remember not to confuse it with the "mat". The tray is kind of flimsy, does not fit the area well, and is bungied to the headrests of the third row seats. A little cheesy. Jeep, please redesign that one soon and please fashion it after the heavy duty "rubber" mat I had in my Land Rover Discovery that fit perfectly and nothing could slide on. I love all of the slush mats, though. Thank you.

I think it is a crumby design. It slides and isn't very heavy duty. Hopefull someone will make a good one.

I'd highly recommend Husky liners for the cargo area, front seats and the rear seats. They really hold in slush and snow. They look really nice and they are custom fit for every car. Any color too.

Nu, are the Husky mats available yet for the Commander? I'm also checking the availability of the WeatherTech rear mat, since I've used and loved their floor mats for 10 years. I've got an older set of those in my Commander now but may opt for the perfect fit slush mats, as they seem pretty substantial.

Yes they are available but you might have to order straight from the factory. I'm not sure if any retailers have them yet. Check the link below...

The item numbers are straight on the site. Again, I HIGHLY recommend them. Well worth the money and 100x better than the stuff from MOPAR. Good luck.
