So I see a lot of SRT guys putting catch cans on their 6.1s. Any 5.7s out there with these things? Do we need one? How involved is the install? please educate me...

If you aren't "losing" oil you don't need to worry about it. Chrysler has some issues with pcv valves and them allowing oil to be sucked into the intake and then burned. The catch cans are catching the excess oil so it isn't making it to the combustion chambers where it causes carbon build up or passes along to the cats where it clogs them. So, if you aren't losing oil don't worry about it. Probably still good to change out the pcv on a regular basis.

I know in the LX community (Chally/Charger/Mag) they are highly praised. But Duneslider has it down pretty well: catches oil getting recirculated into intake.

Take a peek thru your throttle body: it gets pretty nasty in there. But if you aren't a clean freak, then its nothing needed. Minimal (if any) performance gains, just another shiny part to add.

I've got the 4.7l so I'm not sure how'd they mount in the Jeep, but here's the LX instructions:

I know Ill be installing one when I do my headers along with EGR delete. If you drive hard it might be a good idea to invest the $150 to do

I use one on my Challenger R/T. Emptied it the other day after 3k miles. You would be surprised at how full it gets. Since I don't drive my XK as hard as my R/T I really haven't thought about installing one. They do work so if you want to keep your intake clean it's a cheap fix.
