So here's the story... Today is my first day of classes for the winter semester and I am already running late (as always) so I throw my stuff into the jeep and hop in the drivers seat turn the key and *click* nothing.... Repeat 10x SON OF A B......... Go get my other car out of the garage which was stored for the winter and drive that to campus.
This is not the first time this has happened but last time after about 10 tries the car started, this time no dice. It is not the battery or any of the wiring connections as these have all been checked. Tomorrow the starter comes out. Any suggestions? FYI my jeep is no longer under warrenty.

Thanks, Jeremy

was it under warranty when it happened the first time? if so then i would talk to the dealer first. i would think they would still repair it under the original warranty claim.

Not starting

We had this same exact thing happen. The first time they replaced the starter. Then it happened again and they said that there was somting wrong with the computer and it was sending to many volts to the ignition???? First time I heard of that one.

My starter went at about 45K, Dealership tried to say it was from washing the engine and the water got into the starter and destroyed it......so much for an off road jeep eh? I clean the engine with cleaner and water ever few months. Starter problems are apparently pretty common according to the dealer with the Commander and FYI I was out of warranty too, it only ended up costing me $230 for parts and labor at the dealer which i thought was fairly decent, and that price also included the flatbed tow to the dealership from work (about 15 miles)

Well it was a rainy day today in SE MI but I still tried to take the starter off... No luck the top bolt is almost impossible to get to. Washing the engine hey? hahaha there is no way that would do it, and I work in the starter and alternator business. Well it looks like I too will have to have it towed to the dealer. $230 is not bad at all compared to hours of frustration.
