so today i started my rims by cleaning, sanding vigorously and painting.
here are some pics of whats done so far.


finished pics to come probly tomorrow! :banana:

That should look really good! What kind of paint are you using, and are you doing multiple coats? Look forward to the pics.

X2 I want to see them on the jeep. I have the limited chrome wheels on mine. I keep trying to imagine black wheels on mine.

Which style wheels were they originally...I was also thinking of painting my rims a matte black but keeping the polished lip...

the paint i used was dupicolor black wheel paint
i did 1 or 2 light coats and let it dry overnight then did 1 good solid coat in the morning.

and the rims where just the flat chrome stock ones!

That looks really good! I think you should put the lamp tint on your turn signals and tail lights. That would look really good with the black grill!

yeah i have my taillights blacked out which is hard to see in those pictures.
but hopefully ill be having one of my good buddy's friend tint the amber turn signals and one of my taillights because someone bumped into and broke my passenger side taillight!! :(

once ill get that done ill post up pics

How are the painted wheels holding up? Did you clear coat them? Did you use any primer to promote adhesion? I love the look, My first thought is durability and the second thought is brake dust collecting in the pores of the paint.
For others interested in this project... bodyshops have access to two component primers, catalized topcoats and matte clearcoats that I believe would offer better paint performance than a single componet aersol can. I realize this is a DIY project and my hats off to you for doing this. Looks great! I just wanted to provide other options for those who may go down this road. Another option would be to have them powder coated. Has anyone done black wrinkle finish on their wheels?
