So I'm thinking of fabbing a true cowl induction hood. I think if I use the same fiberglass piece that Phunkeydude used on his XK and cut a hole at the front, then using a K&N oval tapered air filter mounted directly to the intake snout and a box around it with open top and foam on edges to seal to the hood when closed. So what do you guys think? Parts aren't expensive except for a new hood if it all goes bad. Just want some feedback on what you think the pros and cons are.

I'd rather go with a snorkel!

In high school I had a buddy with a 95 SS Camaro that had a setup similar to this, except that it was ram air from the forward-facing scoop. It worked great until it rained.

I definitely think your plan is feasible, but wouldn't want to be the first one to road test it.
