06 4.7 commander. the dashboard goes limp. all gauges turn off and power steering shuts down. The engine still runs and I can accelerate and slow down but no gauges work. Dealership cant find anything wrong.

PS is purely mechanical, what is happening with the Dash Gauges sound electrical. I can't see how that would cause the PS to lose boost?

Could you have a wire bundle getting caught in the steering linkage as you turn the wheel? Resisting the steering wheel (making it feel like boost is lost) and shorting power to the gauges?

Do you lose other electrical components? Or just the gauges? The only thing I could think is that maybe you have an issue with your serpentine belt slipping on the power steering pump and the alternator. Hence losing both power steering and your electrical. Of course if that were the case you would probably be experiencing other issues too...
