There were two Fusion Red Commanders sold so far here in Roanoke Virginia, now theres one. Lost to a DEER. She was down a 2 lane road, a deer leaped in front of her, she swerved, over, hit a utility pole swerved back accross the road, went over the bank, flipped it three times. She broke a couple of ribs, but is ok. Her insurance company totaled it & she has already ordered another one. When things jump out in front of u, first instinct is to swerve, this is what happens. Try not to swerve, HIT THE DEER!. Fortunally, the lady had only minor injuries. This is one of the first wreaks I have heard of with a Commander & it sounds like it held up great, of course it was totaled, but wih minor injuries. I don't think the side curtin bags came down because there wasn't a side impact. If she would have hit the deer, the front would have major damage to be repaired but she swerved. If it were me I would have hit the deer, but I don't know how I might have reacted, at a fraction of a second there's 2 choices.........hmmmmmmmm it could go either way. I went to edit something up top, and it kept replacing what I just typed, I hate that, so thats why it says She was down:rolleyes:

My dealer called us last Tuesday when it happened, to make sure it wasn't us. He had sold it to her though.

 PA has the most vehicle-deer collisions in the U.S. The majority of injuries occur when the driver swerves to aviod the deer and impacts with something else. My advise; break hard, stay straight, if a collision can not be avoided hit that deer. If you do aviod hitting it by wary of other deer in the area. Drive safe!

Yeah i feel like i'm riding in a tank... I'm the stay-straight-break-and-hope-whatever it is-moves type of guy, and am considering a deer killer for the front end.

hell, it's already 5000 lbs. what's another 150. ;)

I agree, hit the deer. I toasted a good-sized deer with my Mustang GT a couple of years ago at about 40 mph. Hit it dead-on and it flew up and over my car leaving a few haires caught in the passenger top corner of the windsheild molding and a cracked lens on the turn signal light. That's it. That puppy flew about 40 feet through the air and landed in the ditch, ...RIP. So my advice is go for it and remember to scoop it up for dinner. I couldn't fit the deer in my GT trunk...what a waste.
