Well, it's been a long and arduous journey but after spending 12 out of the last 13 months overseas - including the last 7 months consecutively, I am finally coming home.

My travel request was finally sent out with a travel date of 12 December.

I CAN'T WAIT to put my feet on U.S. soil again, there is no place like home.

So After being 97 days overdue for relief - at least I'll be home for the holidays and should be home for about 2 months total.

I have to say, I am really glad that this assignment is over......this was a trying one.

Can't wait to get my hands on my new Commander goodies - I have an appointment at the Jeep Dealership on December 15th to have my Power Stop K2220-36 Front & Rear Z36 Truck and Tow Brake Kit w/drilled & slotted rotors and my CB Engineering rear upper & rear lower control arms installed. Gonna have a few maintenance items addressed as well, oil & filter change, cooling system flush and probably a new thermostat for starters - plus whatever they tell me I am do for.

The new kicker 77KICK18B 8 Channel - 368 Watt amp and kicker 77KICK11B 6 x 9 door speakers & tweeters and the new tail lights, I'll put in myself.

CONUS - here I come!!!!

Welcome home to American soil!
Our XK came with the premium sound system with the 276w amp...sounds pretty good. But my son bought the kicker rear, front and dash speakers anyway.... with the original head unit and amp there was no difference in sound when we replaced the front door speakers... The rear doors and dash speakers are a great improvement. We boxed up the kicker fronts and he's saving them in case the original speakers go bad...our experience.

Awesome news! The most I've spent was 5 months straight out of country, not for military though, and that was tough. My first thought wasn't really about my car, though, but about all the food places I was going to eat at haha.

Have a safe trip and enjoy the vacation!

Thanks for the feedbacl @rhobll.

My XK came with the MyGIG Media Center 430 CD/DVD/MP3/HDD Boston Acoustics 6 speaker Premium Sound System and the 276 watt factory amp as well.

I wouldn't expect a big difference from the Kicker speakers without the the Kicker 77KICK18B 8 Channel - 368 Watt amp to power them.

I put in the kicker 77KICK10 rear door speakers a while back - only because my factory rear door speakers were shot and starting to distort - and needed to be replaced anyway.

I never really planned on upgrading the entire speaker system and the amp, but I am a music guy and love the sound of a nice quality sound system.

So, I figured to get the most out of it, I may as well upgrade the 276 watt factory amp with the the kicker 77KICK18B 8 Channel - 368 Watt amp and replace the remaining factory 6 x 9 front door speakers & dash tweeters with the kicker 77KICK11B 6 x 9 door speakers & dash tweeters as well.

This way I have the complete MOPAR KICKER sound system upgrade and I expect, all of the upgraded components together, will make a pretty noticeable difference.

We shall see.

I'm not active duty military anymore Mark, I'm a U.S. Merchant Marine - we are accepted service civilians (not contractors) that work for - and very closely with, the Navy and are paid by the D.O.D.

My whole life has been nothing but government service in some shape or form.

9 years of active duty U.S. Navy (88-97 Served in Desert Storm); 12 years of County Law Enforcement (1998-2010) and the last 6 years (2011-2017) with the Merchant Marines.

Merchant Marines? Danged, that can be a hard row to hoe. Hats off to ya.
Did a few years of "trip fishing (commercial)" and some Sub duty. Hard on the nerves not to mention family ties.
Can appreciate your wanting to get home for sure.

Hope you catch a fast jet.

Yep, thanks Bob.

I received my travel orders & flight itinerary this morning - it's official.

So, I should be back state-side the night of Dec 12th - after about 24 hrs of flying.....LOL.

Well, I have a 4 hr drive to the airport in Manila and my flight back to the States leaves about 10 hours from now which means I'll probably sitting in the airport for a few hours once I get there.

Anyway, I'll be flying about 24 hours before I touch down in VA, so, I'll be off the grid for about a day and a half or so.

I'll probably check in with you guys again on the evening of December 13th.
