If this is one that has the pancake CV on both ends, the long dust boot also covers a slip yoke. I would suggest making sure that the new drive shaft is fully compressed before tearing it apart. What went wrong with the old drive shaft? You can pick up a CV rebuild kit for the rear Rezeppa CV.

To answer your question, it is likely that you will destroy the metal caps of the CVs trying to get them off to get access to the snap ring. Then you will need to also fully repack them with grease. But.... they should fit.

I am on on my third rebuild CV, for some reason the super-lift on my commander causes it to eat the rear rezeppa. I just put on a heavy duty front shaft on mine, ordered it from Tom Wood's. It's a u-joint type, but a multi Double Cardan so it should handle the extra angle from the lift. So far so good, but I'll be towing our travel trailer (loaded runs about 6800 lbs) this weekend and that will be the full test.

when i first got it. while speeding up it made horrible metal grinding sound. but when let of the gas and sound would totally go away. i found a youtube video of a guys that sounded exactly like mine and he said it was his front driveshaft. so when i put mine on ramps as soon as took it off the front cv that bolts to front differential totally fell apart. other end where hooks to transfer case also felt pretty loose so decided to just replace the whole shaft. i had seen a video of a guy rebuilding his cv was going to install new shaft and try rebuilding old one. i will see if i can compress it any. my original doesnt have any welds like the new one but if i measure weld to weld on new one its 22” old one where the welds would be isn’t that long. i literally went by the part # on original driveshaft so hopefully it will compress it fit in it

ok update new one when tried to compress it the shaft hit the metal cap on side with long boot fell off when the shaft pushed on it. so took both cv joints off big end that went to differential went on perfect other side took some work but did get it on. drove it to work this morning and there was some vibration so will probably get another driveshaft this time make sure to get right length.
