Can someone quote me the front end alignment specifications for the Commander. I would like to know what the toe in/toe out spec is. And is there a camber angle spec as well. The camber is not usually done but can be adjusted on the mounting bolts of the lower control arms if required.

Has anyone tried to do their own alignment? I was able to do an alignment on my Suzuki samurai with a tape measure before and I know the XK needs an alignment but don't wanna pay for it.

Your Samuri only had adjustable toe in and one could be reasonably close doing that one with a tape measure (you had a straight front axle)
Your Commander has caster and camber adjustments that must be made followed up with a toe in adjustment......no tape measuring on this type IFS system.

No freebe here my friend, unless you have a alignment guy that owes you a favor, LOL.

Toe in/out is a very basic set up and easy to measure but how would you measure camber.
I have just replaced the lower control arms on my Commander. I have tried to set my new control arms in a similar position to the original ones. This is a bit hit and miss as they may not be an exact shape/match to the original ones plus I also have JBA upper control arms that position the york further out than the OEM UCA's. Does anyone have a smart but simple method for the home mechanic to easily measure camber?
I'm thinking a very level garage floor, a plumb bob and a tape measure and a calculator.
I look forward to some brilliant ideas!

You could get one or two of these for the caster and camber... http://advantagewheelalignment.com/camber_gauge.html

You could also try your local community college with an automotive department. My school only charges $10 for non-student cars. We just got the new Hunter Hawk Eye system and I've thrown my jeep up there a couple times after wheeling. It's a very precise system.
