Thought I had a bad ball joint so I jacked up the XK had a friend put a bar under each tire with the necessary leverage and saw no movement in either the upper or lower b joint on either side. I removed the wheel, and everything including the rotors could see no torn boots or other signs of damage. So while I was this far I replaced the rotors and pads. While I didn't think this would fix my problem, I still have a clunk when I hit a bump/hole in the road. Does this point to a bad bushing in the torsion bar i

My daughter's Liberty also had bad clunking in the front end. Replaced the sway bar bushings and end links, it fixed all the clunking. It's cheap and easy so I would try that first if you haven't already.

Check the front diff mount, recently had a similar problem on wife's, if it's a more subutal "clunking" front struts might be getting worn.
I actually just had my front diff mounts replaced yesterday and my clunking didn't go away. All the other bushings, ball joints, and sway bar end links are new so I'm at a loss. Good luck finding your clunk!

I had my entire front diff replaced about 10 months ago and there was no difference. When i took one of sway bar bushings to NAPA they said they did not think mine were bad. For those who have replaced theirs could you see damage where they were allowing metal to metal contact? He thought it could be bad strut mounting plates.

I wish I could've inspected them myself. I had this done at the stealership and I was sure this would've taken care of my problem but it did not. It seems slightly better but I still have this "thud" almost, whatever it is it sounds like something heavy rattling around, even with smaller bumps. My strut plates are new and so are the coil spring isolators so I'm ruling out anything suspension related at this point. I'm going back to the stealership tomorrow to complain so we'll see how it goes. I'll keep you posted if they were able to find my issue, it might be worth checking it on your Commander as well if they do.

Control arm bushings?

My sway bar bushings really didn't look worn when installed... but replaced em anyway and fixed a clunk. You can see the wear on the inside of the bushings.

Thanks keep me posted, It looks as if car problems will take a back seat to hurricane preperations for the next few days.

Replaced the brackets and bushings today and that appears to solve the front end noise problem. There still is noisein the rear, are there bushings there and are they as easy to replace as the front?

Not the same issue in the rear. Might be control arm bushings or end links or spring isolators.
