I do not have the navagation system however I do have the touch screen radio / XM radio / DVD system. Obviously being in the front seat the DVD feature only works in park. What can be done to deactivate this safety feature in order to allow the DVD player to play DVD's while driving?

like in other in-dash navigation systems...i am not sure of this oem jeep....there has to be a relay(has to be installed) to overide the "park" mode....
sometimes it has a switch(has to be installed)...others i doesnt......check with your local car audio/video...istallation place and ask
they can probably do it.....

I have a daughter who still sits in a car seat in the middle of the back seat. There are no DVD players in the back seat so she would be able to watch the DVD player in the front seat if I could have it playing while driving. My wife would also benefit from a front seat DVD player on our long trips. I understand the danger however I am looking more for the benifit of my daughter and wife or whoever sits in the passenger seat.

Read this thread from another forum. I did it on my Commander with the REN (non nav unit) and it works well. If you have any trouble pm me. Saves you the cost of purchasing the lockpick.
