Hi to everyone,

Hi my 3.0 crd ltd. Seems to work great if i accelerate slow.It works it's way through the gears and staysok if I keep it to about 50mph. If I accelerate fast or its under load the gears seem to get stuck in say3rd or top gear. If I then stop and turn the ignition of wait a little and then turn it on, it seems to be ok and the same as before in orange occurs. It doesnt seem to happen inthe mornings when the car first starts. Any ideas please?

Dragging shifts ? --- Do a tranny fluid flush and new spin-on and filter screen installed ... The Winn machines do a great job getting the junk out of the torque converter impellers.

If the transmission stops shifting crisply or hangs up, that is a sign that the filters, the screen or the spin-on or both is plugged up. Change them.
Clean fluid, unburned that remain at normal operating temperatures [170 deg F. ] will always provide the best way to preserve the tranny.


Skip Weis ... $130 bucks is cheap insurance as this 5 spd Automatic 545RFE Mercedes Benz Transmission is SO EXPENSIVE to fix.

The Winn Machine tranny flush; With old filters, the tranny fluid is flushed through the Winn Machine, then the old [Winn Filtered fluid] is dumped. New screen and the spin-on filters are installed and fresh fluid is used. If the transmission stops shifting crisply or hangs up, that is a sign that the filters, the screen or the spin-on or both is plugged up. Change them.

And although Chrysler doesnt recommend the fluid flush, they prefer just dropping the pan and filter, but if you suspect that the fluid is contaminated, then its necessary to flush.

Talking to a gear specialist @luckyse7ens he agreed with you that the first thing to do was the wheel sensor. He said next it's diagnostics and he thinks it may be some circuit board connected to the gearbox? Thats a few hundred pounds. If it is the gearbox itself the were talking thousands.

The circuit board is probably the conductor plate, as that has the solenoids and speed sensors built/plugged into it. Its basically a plastic part and end up cracking with the heat. It seems to be getting more common as these get older. There is a you tube video where a mercedes specialist replaces one.

I am afraid of trans flushes personally. A couple of pan drops seems like a safer way to go about it to me.
