Welcome to the forum purplejeeper;

Which power-train does your '06 Limited have and which 4WD system?

How many miles are on it?

Creek is correct; you need to reach 5 posts before you can post in the other sub-forums.

Again, welcome aboard.

My Commander has 147xxx miles, still feels strong. I recently changed the lower ball joints, I ordered some Moog Lowers and adj. Uppers, but my question was regarding the lowers, they didn't seem to sit all the way down and I'm still seeing a bit of the stud. I was wondering if anyone else has seen this and if its ok?

So you basically have the same set-up as me - other than you have an 06 Limited and I have an 08 Sport.

I have not heard of this lower ball joint issue before - but, it certainly doesn't sound normal.

Have you tried calling Moog directly and speaking to one of their Techs?

You going to post some pics of your XK p.j.???

I will blue Ive just been really busy with school and trying to figure out why the Battery Light wont turn off....I went to Oreillys to check the Battery and the Alternator, first they said it was the alternator and when that didnt work they said it was the battery, i returned the alternator and they gave me credit for a new battery, and that light wont turn off...if anyone can direct me to a thread that maybe talks a little bit more about what this issue might be, it would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds to me like they are just guessing.

Are any DTCs (diagnostic trouble codes) being generated?

It could be something as simple as a corroded connection to the battery or the alternator - or maybe just a frayed wire somewhere - have you checked that stuff already?

I just visually checked, its not showing the check engine light, I checked all wires involved with the battery and alternator they all seem ok...Ive read so far that it could be the PCM or for some reason the starter connections....I cant stand my local dealership and really dont want to have to go there unless its a last resort....could it have been BOTH the starter and the Battery at the same time??

Not likely in my opinion.

If you have a battery charger and you can check and confirm that your battery is holding a good charge, you can probably rule out the battery itself.

In theory, any engine component that runs off the battery could cause the battery light to come on if it has a bad connection, a frayed wire or a corroded connection somewhere.

The starter could be another possibility.

A bad or failing alternator would definitely cause your battery to come on because your battery is not receiving proper charging while the engine is running.

If it's "whining" it could just be a lose belt which would also probably cause the battery light to come on.

When is the last time you had your Commander serviced?

i had it serviced at the dealership about a month and a half ago....just to change some of the fluids, but they also do a multi-point inspection, nothing about the belt, i inspected the belt when I swithched alternator it wasnt cracked or anything...

Does the belt feel tight to the touch with no play?

What is your theory about the cause of the alternator whining?

The belt feels tight and we had the alternator checked by itself at a different auto parts store and it checked out im just thinking its whirring becuase its still not charging.....Its not charging because upon further inspection this morning one of the wires connected( ground i think) is fried....and since that same wire goes to the PCM which helps the ALT regulate voltage to the car that might be the reason...so first step right now is to service those connections hopefully the wire isnt completely frayed and i can still piggy back off some good wire.....
