Hello fellow Jeepers, My name is Kevin. First of all I do most of my work on all my vehicles, but I do know my limits, and when to let a professional handle things. I guess I'll start with my Jeep I've owned since Oct. '16

2007 Commander
Limited
5.7L Hemi V8
QDII
131k on Body and DT as of 12/26/17
Roughly 14k on new Jasper Hemi I had to have replaced back in March '17
Replacements:
Heater & Evaporator Cores Oct '16
Starter in July '17
Altenator and Serpentine Belt in Aug.'17

My journey into the commander world. I had an 02 Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4 4.0L with a 4in lift. I was the third owner and needless to say the maintenance wasn't the best, but being the little workhorse that it was, I was changed to a jeep guy for life. Me and the wife at the time decided we wanted something bigger and nicer. Both of us were true jeep converts so Hello Commander here we come.

Searched around and found mine for $10,500 w/114k mi. Took it to my mechanic for a pre inspection everything seems in good condition except for a little rust on the underbody. Paid cash and started to enjoy the "new to me" ride.

18hrs after I bought it, steam came out of the dash and I had about 2in of antifreeze in my floorboard. Heater core blew. So while they had the dash all ripped out I went ahead and replaced the evaporator core as well.

About a week after this was done, went to start it up and just the nastiest sounds were coming from the engine. I knew this was beyond my capabilities took it to my mechanic and ends up I rolled a piston ring over the top of the piston and gouged a good 2cm into the cylinder wall. Well that block was done. Didn't have the funds to replace it at that point after buying it outright and replacing the two cores...so it sat in the yard for about 6 months. Finally put away enough to replace the engine and love it.

Daily driver and took a trip from NC to western Colorado back in Sept '17. It did amazing.

I have looked at a lot of post on here and gleaned tons of info.

Thank you for allowing me to be a part of the group and look foward to great conversations...

Happy Jeeping Guys!!

Are you satisfied with the Jasper engine? Did you install yourself or have one of Jasper's recommended installers? Just curious thx.

I knew that endeavor was way over my pay grade. Had a Napa shop do it for me.

Love the engine though. I've definitely tested it, I'm a WOT kind of guy all the time....
