4526 Views 16 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  RCHaMMeRX
Hey guys... Im new to the forum and I'm lookin for advise on the Superlift. I have an 06 XK and want to lift it bad, but I got the V6... I have a K&N intake system, and a custom Flowmaster exhaust and now lookin for a lift. I AM NOT LOOKIN TO WHEEL OR GO OFFROAD so do you guys think it is possible???

I might change the gearing tho to a 4.10 if that would help..

Did anyone with a V6 do this lift yet??

thanks
Ryan

I guess first thing is don't post the same question in multiple threads people don't like that. Second thing is any thing is possible. The 4" lift is pretty big for not wanting to off road so your just doing it for the looks. Keep the tire size down and you should see no difference in MPG's it will feel a little different to drive but the learning curve is short. I don't see a problem doing it IMO.
you don't need more power or bigger gears just because of a lift its the tires we put on after the lift that causes the stress on the parts IMO. Also if you have a 4x4 then you would have to change gears in both diffs and I don't think thats possible right now.
Wow why would u spend a couple thousand dollars to do a 4 in lift if u have no plans on off roaring it. My suggestion would b to buy a 2 in rough country lift for 150 bucks and use the extra $ for more upgrades like wheels and tires and after buyin all that u would still b spending less than the superlift. Also u cannot change the gears in ur commander if it's 4wd because no one makes bigger gears for the front diff. And yes both have to b done. Also the engine size doesn't matter as far as the lift goes so yea it would wrk fine. And I say go ahead and go for it if $ no issue for u but just like too much to spend on a mall crawler. Oh yea and welcome to tha forum :)
I agree with the above posts. V-6 vs V-8 on a lift doesn't matter. Be prepared to lose some gas mileage, but then, if we cared about gas mileage we would'nt be driving Commanders.
You can get the look I think you want without superlift if you are not off roading. And if you have money to spend buy me the superlift I will put your name or company on my jeep and will off road!
you can do it. and max out at 31" tires (my reccomendation) if you go any bigger than that, the V6 will have too hard of a time pulling those larger tires. i have a V6 with 31" about 3" of lift. getting 10.4mpg on weekdays. and 11.2 on weekends. (weekdays i drive 1 mile to school and back on a cold engine)
Install the 4 inch Superlift and 3.73 gears out of a V8 XK and you will be fine running a 32 inch tire.

Hmm i thought the v6 had the 3.73 in it already. and wow so many people are getting really bad milage I feel really good about my mpg then i get 17 on highway and 14 in town thats with a 5.7 and 2 in rc lift and stock tires
thanks guys... appriecate the input...this helped out alot. I came to the conclusion that im goin to do it

i wanna put the four inch on cause im sick of not seein over cars plus Im just tryin to keep up wit the family. My dad has '10 2500 megacab with a 4.5 lift, and my brother has a wrangler and puttin 37's on it... haha

I really want to go on the beachs wit it but who knows...

once i get it done ill put pics up

how much would that run me? about
I just did the superlift. It will run you around $1900 for the kit (make sure you get the EGR module for your year model - some people sell for $1400 + shipping but no EGR module). There is a 4-6 week wait if you cannot find one already in stock (they are rare). Get a reputable installer - it will run you around $800 + alignment (yes you need to do this).

You have to ask yourself if its all worth it and if you will utilize the XK with this type of lift. I lived with the Rocky Road lift for a few years and 265/70/17's - it made for a very capable off road vehicle. You should probably consider the 2" lifts out there first if you are not going to off-road. Hell for the price of the Superlift you can do a 2-3" lift w/ leveling spacers and throw some 19/20" rims w street tires and probably have one wicked rig and all the view you would need.

No, the normal V6's have 3.07 gears.

However, they did make a QT II version of the V6 (very rare) with 3.55 gears.

If you purchased the gears from the dealer you would be looking at probablly around $300-400 in parts per axle plus install. Not cheap at all but those 3.73's would be a lot better then the 3.07's.
