The first set of spy photos showing off the new Jeep Wrangler-based pickup truck have been captured. This Jeep with a bed is expected to begin production in mid- to late-2018 as a 2019 model year vehicle.
Seen in these photos is a four-door Wrangler Unlimited with a bed tacked on, though the rear wheel placement suggests that the bed design isn’t finalized just yet. The overall size of the truck looks quite large, even though it appears like just a 5.5-foot bed is on this prototype.
As for other details, the new Wrangler pickup will benefit from the mixed-materials approach Fiat Chrysler is taking with iconic off-roader, which will feature aluminum and other materials to help it lose weight.
Under the hood, a range of engines is expected to be offered including a turbocharged 2.0-liter four cylinder, a 3.6-liter V6 and a small diesel.
