Whats up!
Its been awhile since last posted, but i always come back, usually for some sound advice!!

So we've been noticing some small oil marks on the concrete under the xk and finally bent down to look...

Its the transmission pan. Wdipe it clean Sunday and a very small amount appeared near a bolt today... as i'm attempting to check the tightness of the bolts, one stripped.( im assuming its the aluminum transmission body thats stripped, and not the bolt.)

If i knew the size and length of bolt, I think id try drilling and tapping the existing stripped opening for a larger bolt and then replacing the pan gasket..

Does anyone have experience in this kind of project, or know anything about the bolts that are there.

You might be able to just put a longer bolt in there. I put a longer bolt in mine. One of my holes also stripped out.
I change my transmission filters and oil every 25,000 miles. I'm going to be doing it this week. I'll have a look and take some pictures for you.
Do you know for sure if the bolt is stripped out. If so I'm just curious, if it was the one on the front half of the transmission. Towards the front of the engine. I really don't know my why mine stripped out. But it happened years ago.
You can take out that one bolt, that you think is stripped. And put it really skinny screwdriver or piece of coat hanger in there, and check the depth. Then you know how long of a boat that you can buy.
Realistically though,even if you put a longer bolt in there,once the leak starts, you probably going to need a new gasket.

Okay.... I got the size bolt for you here's a picture of it. This size is for the front of the transmission. Because the holes don't go all the way through. I have a lock washer and flat washer on it.

Thanks for showing the bolt....but unfortunately the Nag transmission has a different setup underneath...these use long thin bolts that have a spacer with a tab that holds the pan in place.
Im gonna pull the bolt out hopefully over the weekend and check the bolt hole depth. Hopefully there's some deeper thread in there.
And I do plan on replacing the gasket and fluid. Its definitely tight enough that it shouldn't be leaking...ill probably put some adhesive on the gasket.

You'll be okay. Just take out the one bolt you need. clean out the hole with compressed air and brake/parts cleaner. Then measure the depth. Hopefully it'll all work out.
