Ok so this is my thought, tell me what you think!
I am going to go with the 2.25 lift from rocky mtn.
I feel i need so i can be able to attend the next outing.
Also i will add the 1.5 spacer for wheels.
Sound good so far? Ok this is what i'm thinking, what about a 1/2 inch spacer i can have made that will slide into or onto the 2.25 lift wher it connects at to give me a total of 2 and 3qrts (2.75) lift. that leaves me just under 3inch.

Is this possible? :icon_confused: any input would be helpfull thank you.

You need to search prior to posting as this has been covered many times before. If you were to add a spacer on top of the 2.5 inch lift, you would be putting your UCA/Ball Joints/CV's at such an severe angle causing premature failure. There is a reason why lifts over 3 or so inches come with drop down brackets, extended steering knuckles, extended sway bar end links, shocks and all the other parts that come in the lift kits.

Also if you were to add a 1/2 inch spacer on top of the previous lift, you would actuall be gaining a extra inch of lift. The 2.5 inch lifts arnt an actual 2.5 inch spacer. Its approximately 1 -1.25 inches thick. On a vehicle with IFS you gain twice as much lift as the size spacer (in theory).

I didnt want to sound mean if thats the way it came across. It's just that the info is out there. You just have to find it!

no prob ...but you did loose me with the (IFS) i sorta got what you ment about 1.5 inch insted of 2.5?

The conversion is more related to the strut placement on the lower control arm than being IFS.

If you look at a vehicle with coil over strut (Mcphearson strut) as found on most front drive cars, you will note the strut is attached directly to the spindle knuckle.
So, the strut movement to spindle movement is one to one.

On a vehicle with a modified Mcphearson strut (means has upper/lower control arms and strut experiences no side load or has nothing to do with caster or camber settings) such as our Commanders, you will note the strut attached to the control arm at its approximate mid-point between frame mount and ball joint.
When the static length of the assembled strut is increased through the use of a spacer, say 1/2 inch, the ball joint will have been repositioned almost 1 full inch.
Now, as the lower control arm angle drops below the center point of the attachment at the frame, the difference at the ball joint becomes less.
For example- The first 1/4" results in 1/2" at the ball joint.
The next 1/4" results in about 7/16ths at the joint.
The next 1/4" results in about 5/16ths at the joint.

so i didnt get the #rs but i did understand what you ment ..so by adding your adjesting and also changing hight right... thank you......just wait till i get the lift in the mail i.m going to realy be asking some funny question ,,,,,,,i will attempt to do it myself LOL...

I think that you could possibly go to 2.5" of overall lift and still be in a safe operating range for the components listed above. This would only be a 1/4" additional lift that doesn't seem like alot but I guess if you are counting every inch (or 1/4") then it is worth it. That would be an additional 1/8" spacer on the strut and a 1/4" on the rear springs. The 1/4" may be the difference between a little rub and no rub on the tires.

i've noticed on my r.r. lift that the front still sags a bit. roughly 3/4 of an inch. and with the 1 1/4 inch wheel spacers my 265/70/17's rub a good amount on tight turns. my solution is going to be adding a 1/2" plate to the top of my kit. we'll see if it helps level it out and keeps the tires from rubbing like they do. glad i saw this thread though i was going to cut my plate out of some 3/4 " material i have at the shop. can you say ( overkill).
