This is covered in an older thread but i figured i would start a new one about this problem.
One day while driving i get the Tailgate open message and a ping then the interior lights come on. Stopped and slammed the tailgate and window but still didn't help. Tired unplugging the sensor plug, located at the rear window latch, that didn't help. Researched this and found it to be a common problem with jeeps when it gets cold out as moisture gets in the plug. A bunch of different ways to solve this, but the one i found that worked was to disconnect the sensor plug and give it a good 5 second squirt with WD40..flickered off and on for a few minutes and has been working since then..FYI, the sensor plus is the 2 wire plug on the left.. on a commander anyway... Hope this helps you out if this is your problem..Merry Christmas..
:worried:
