The Rough Country lift measures 2" on the spacers, which translates to slightly more up front, right around the 3" that kit claims. It's possible that the kit offers more lift than the RC, but there aren't any specs on spacer sizes, and I'd wager that they're exactly the same size.

As for the Heavy Metal kit, it looks to have the same rear spacer as the rest of the kits, but changes to a longer fork up front. From what I understand, due to the geometry up front this won't offer the same lift as a spacer above the strut.

Ultimately, both kits will most likely offer around the same lift as the RC kit, or the comparable Crown Automotive and RT Off Road lift kits.

The rough country is only two inch
Rough country is a levlling kit. It lifts the front more than the rear by a significant amount. Its actually common for people to look to lift the rear additionally since they feel that the front seems higher than the back when going with that kit.

This is a true statement.

I'm running the 2 inch rough country lift and initially I think my front was slightly higher than my rear.

I've since changed my Shocks, struts and rear coil springs, so, I have Bilstein B6 4600 front struts, Bilstein 5100 rear shocks and new Chrysler Hemi-rated, rear coil springs which are a little heavier than the factory 4.7L rear springs.

I'm now sitting perfectly level.

It also depends on what you consider level. If you look @ the wheel well openings the front one is larger. Using that as your frame of reference vs the floor boards or roof lines or the door guards would all leave you with varying different ideas of what is "level."

On my XK the tire to fender gap is slightly larger in the front than the rear, but door guards and sills still suggest that the front is lower than the rear.


Unfortunately due to varying engine/driveline weights and aging suspension components (such as spring isolators and springs) each setup is going to be slightly different.

I'm not getting that technical about it lucky, when I look at it on level ground, it sits level to my eye.

Oh I understand, not saying that you are incorrect in calling your ride level at all.

I'm actually considering taking out my RoR from strut spacer. When I disassemble the front end again I likely will. I'm due for new control arm bushings... I've got to get my other vehicles sorted out first though. That's another story.

I've got the JBA upper A-arms for lifted XK's on my to-do list.

I'll be ordering them in the next month or so to have them installed when I go home in April.
