Hi all,
It's been a while since I've owned a Jeep. Past Jeeps include 95 Grand Cherokee Laredo with a straight 6, then with a V8, then a 06 Commander Sport, which was replaced by a 2500 Suburban 8.1 Liter that we needed to pull a camper. Kids are grown, camper and Suburban are gone, and Commander was calling my name. Well last week I found a 2010 Commander Ltd in Detroit and coming from Chicago is a drive. ..To get another vehicle. Overall, it's clean. It had one owner from NJ area, and looked like what I wanted. A black Limited with a Hemi, and loaded. I was a happy JeeP owner again. :grin2:

Looking forward to reading up on this site to see what others are doing with their Commander.

Sig D....

Welcome to the forum Skyrider08;

Sounds like you found a very nice XK;

How many miles are on it?

Is it a 4x4 or 4x2?

If it's a 4x4 - which 4WD system does it have?

Any modifications done to it at all that you noticed?

Hey Big Blue,
Look at all the basic things I forgot about. :)

My JeeP has 94k miles and runs great! Of course the story I got from the dealer was that he had to replace the brains and then the main harness. That worried me, but the problem-free 8 hour drive home calmed that worry.

It's a 4x4 with the quadra-trak II trans.

If there are mods, I haven't noticed any. Originally I thought it was lifted, but come to find out someone swapped tires and put on undersized tires making more wheel well room. Da. Turns out they were winter tires with plenty of tread, but mfr'd in 06! On a 2010! Mad that I didn't notice, replaced them with 30" GdYr ATs. Now it looks normal. LoL.

One more thought...With the brain module (not sure what it's called), does that remove any software updates, or the software recall that Mopar shows was performed on this JeeP? Thx.

Skyrider08;

Since your ECU was replaced recently, I'd ask you if the dealership you bought it from was a Jeep/Chrysler dealership?

If it was, it should already have already been flashed up to date, prior to them putting it up for sale.

If you did not buy your Commander at a Jeep/Chrysler dealership I would definitely take it to one and have the ECU read with a scanner to make sure it's flashed up to date.

I would also be sure to go to the website below and plug in your VIN to see if all the factory re-calls & campaigns have been completed:

Safety Recall Information | MOPAR

If there are any factory recalls or campaigns that have not been completed - that should be one of your very first orders of business.

Also you said you have a V-8 engine - but which one?

4.7L V-8 or 5.7L Hemi V-8?

First, it's the 5.7 Hemi.
No it wasn't a Chrysler /Jeep dealer, but I do have a service call scheduled for this Friday...sounds like I will be adding an ECU check too. I was having them do a bit fault check to see if anything is tripped and needs attn.

Thanks again for the info.

Anytime Skyrider08;

Let us know how it goes.

Did you ever check your VIN on that website to see if all of your factory recalls & campaigns have been completed?
