I recently picked up a 2007 Commander (actually Monday) and have a quesion about the radio. I have the 276-Watt Amplifier, Boston Acoustic Sound System and want to know what needs to be done to make this Ipod compatible? I honestly wanted to put a in dash, touch screen nav in the car, but have to admit the stock system isn't half bad. So, the next question I ask is, Should I replace this facotory system - even though it has a 276-Watt Amp and just get the in dash Nav?

Another thing, I am looking to black out the entire car getting rid of the rims and chrome grille. Are there any sponsors that you would recomend for rims and a black grille.

I'd post pics, but the car is pretty stock. Black Sport with Gery leather, Preferred Pack 28U, Rear Entertainment DVD, 4.7 V8. The only thing I have done so far is change the gas cover to chrome, which is actually funny since I just said I want to take off the grill and wheels.

Again, I am new to this forum and new to driving a truck every day. Your help is appreciated.

There are people here who would swap you grills, there is even a grill on the for sale thread. There are also whole threads on wheels and tires with many reconmendations. Welcome and good luck.

Thanks for the help.

Does anyone have input on the radio situation?
Unless you really want/need the Nav setup I'd stay with what you have..... You may want to swap out the speakers though...the factory ones aren't the best

Yeah I already noticed that about the speakers. If the radio didn't have the 276-watt amp, I'd prob just rip it out and get the nav .... instead I am just going to have the ipod kit installed.

Let's talk about a few things. The BA system is ok for a stock system, but it is the manufactured for Jeep and is not a system that can be purchased from BA. As such, it's not really that high end of a system. It's a good selling point and adds speakers, but a speaker upgrade will dramatically improve your sound. I sold my Jag with a great Kenwood touch screen HD Nav/DVD system (double din) and used my nav...1 time. The 'wow' factor was great, but the money could have been devoted elsewhere. It's great to say 'my amp pushes X amount of watts at 8 ohm' but realistically, it isn't moving much. Granted, the sound in my XK is good with the BA system, but if I really wanted to improve my sound like I used to do in the old days:

My old Mazda 626 (remember, this was 2003)
~Clarion DXZ-925
~Blaupunkt ME1 (DVD/Mp3/CD player mounted in rear center armrest)
~Microsoft XBox (removable underneath front passeger seat)
~7.2" Power Acoustik LCD monitor (custom dash mount above center a/c vents)
~Kicker DX57 front stage 5x7
~Kicker K693 rear stage 6x9
~JL Audio VR075-CT tweeters
~Kicker 700.5 multi-channel amplifier
~Kicker 12L5 (12" subwoofer)
~Lightning Audio Strike LSD10 (1 farad digital cap)
~Lightning Audio Strike 4g amp kit
~Lightning Audio Strike 16g speaker wire
~Reverse camera (color)
~custom trunk box (flush to the rear seat with recessed amp and cap rack)~A/V selector (changes XBox to DVD with one switch; in glovebox)
~Bell 10 point acc. box (all accs. plug into it for central fuse box-in glove box)
~Cobra 1000w power inverter (under driver seat)
~Schoche battery terminals
~Fosgate 4g w/inline fuse to power inverter

But for now, think about what you want. Do you want to be the DB king of your neighborhood, or do you want an insanely crisp sounding OEM looking car. And then look at your budget. You can throw a ton of money at a sound system, but that doesn't mean it will sound good. Alas, I'm 32 and married and my wife said my days of having fun with cars are gone.

Good thing I live in Louisiana and there is hunting and fishing :)

Honestly, I just wanted the Nav, cause its nice when you take trip. I am over the 1000-watt systems and actually just going to get the IPOD hook up for now. If down the road .. i still want the Nav, then I'll get it.

I bought the iPod kit from IntegrationSolutions on Ebay...gives control from the head unit.
