Hey guys, first time Commander owner here, got it on auction trying to fix it up to keep and have run into a few issues. Recently just replaced the drivers side head, along with some new fuel injectors, all new spark plugs and coil packs, intake manifold, and throttle body. Ran the code reader just recently, and have these 3 codes that i'm trying to find a solution to, or if anyone has dealt with these codes.

Codes are:
U0100- Lost communication with PCM
U140E- Implausible vehicle configuration data received
C2202- Original VIN mismatch/missing

Any help would be greatly appreciated, hoping someone has run into this issue with info.

All the ‘U’ codes are network communication codes. Codes U0100 to U0300 are lost communication with XX module codes.

U0140 is the closest I could find to your U140E;


Code U0140 is typically caused by one of the following:

  • A dead battery
  • A faulty BCM
  • A problem with BCM circuit
  • A problem with the CAN bus

I haven't heard of the C2202 DTC before, obviously it sounds like something related to the VIN programming either not matching or missing somewhere, let me see what I can dig up on that;

C2202 Chrysler Description

The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) stored in the Anti-Lock Brake Module (ABM) does not match the VIN read off of the Controlled Area Network (CAN) bus.

Possible causes:



  • Anti-Lock Brake Module (ABM) moved from different vehicle
  • Wrong Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) programmed to the vehicle

It would seem you are dealing with multiple issues that are all potentially pointing toward your Controlled Area Network (CAN) bus; In light of all the work you just had done, I'd recommend going to a reputable shop to have your vehicle properly diagnosed.

Just came across this pertaining to U140E; See the attached .PDF;

VERIFY CORRECT ECM OR PCM IS INSTALLED IN THE VEHICLE


With the scan tool, verify that the ECM or PCM part number is correct for the vehicle.

Is the correct ECM or PCM installed in the vehicle?


Replace and program the ECM or PCM in accordance with the Service Information.


Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST.


Refer to 5 - BRAKES - STANDARD PROCEDURE


VERIFY ECM OR PCM IS PROGRAMMED WITH CORRECT VIN



With the scan tool, verify that the ECM or PCM is programmed with the correct VIN.
Is the ECM or PCM programmed with the correct VIN?
