Just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and say that I look forward to being a part of this forum. I've already done a ton of reading on here so thanks for all the informative posts! My name is Louis and we just bought an 07 commander limited. Has the 5.7 hemi. Have had it for about 2 weeks and so far have done complete fluid changes oil,trans,diffs etc. and put a rough country lift on along with assasin wheels and wrangler duratrac tires. Have a little more work to do, I'm getting a code for the egr and have bought it. Is it relatively easy to replace on this vehicle? Also getting the "service 4wd system" when I try to put in 4l.

Welcome to the forum Loalge;

That's a fine looking rig you have there.

I cant' answer your question about the EGR, I've never replaced mine - but not being able to shift into 4-LOW is most likely because you have to get the P73 campaign completed;

See the attached Customer Satisfaction notice; Don't be confused by the wording in the notice.

The notice states that it applies to all Commanders with the Quadra-Trac II Full Time Active 4WD transfer case which is very misleading to me because if you didn't know any better, one would assume that it only applies to Commanders with the Quadra-Trac II 4WD system - but that is not the case.

Quadra-Trac II uses the same transfer case as Quadra-Drive II which is the NV245 transfer case - so this notice applies to Commanders with the Quadra-Trac II and the Quadra-Drive II 4WD system.

The other possible cause would be a bad transfer case actuator motor but I'd put my money your XK has not had the P73 campaign completed.

You can check to see if the P73 campaign has been completed - as well as all other factory recalls & campaigns on this website - just plug in your VIN;

Safety Recall Information | MOPAR

If there are any factory recalls or campaigns that have not been completed, I'd get them completed straight away.

They won't cost you anything but time.

Thanks for the info. Turns out I had already scheduled to have this fixed without knowing it. It has 2 unresolved recalls, ignition switch and final drive reprogram. I saw that on car fax and scheduled to have them fixed asap. Should be good on the 12th.

The reprogramming did fix my 4low issue so I'm good to go there. ?? Also the EGR really wasn't that difficult to do and did fix my other issues. My suggestion to others on the egr replacement is to not listen to the videos and suggestions out there to cut the bolt and buy a shorter one. It's really not hard to remove a couple bolts and move the alternator out of the way. With all that said, all issues are resolved and we have a pretty damn solid rig now!

Glad you got everything ironed out Loalge.

Thanks for the feedback.
