Hey yall my name is Jason and I appreciate you letting me in the secret society of jeepers lol. I got an 07 grand cherokee laredo, current mods are....none. however if one had to replace the transfer case that is currently a nv140 should he stay with the 140 or I there a more reliable swap maybe? Appreciate all yalls.

That being said Jason, I'm making some educated assumptions here, based on the very limited information that you provided;
The NV140 transfer case is a single speed transfer case, which would indicate that you have QT-I 4WD;
Taking it a step further, that would also indicate that you have a 3.7L V-6 as your engine, as that's the only Chrysler/Jeep engine that I'm aware of, that ever came equipped with QT-I 4WD, from 2005, all the way through 2010;
So, the short answer is, YES, you need to replace it with the same NV140 single speed transfer case; Because that's the correct factory, OEM transfer case, that the 3.7L V-6 powertrain, in your 2007 Grand Cherokee Laredo is designed for.
