Roof Rack w/ Light Bar

I am not too impressed yet with the roof rack/lightbar mounting hardware. As you can see in the image above, the rack is held on by two brackets on each side and they are bolted to the factory roof rails with a too small washer and bolt. I have not wired the lights yet because I think I will change out the brackets and bolt the whole roof rack to a set of the Mopar sport bars. Also, the Pro Comp lights seem too small for the lightbar's height. I just don't know how I'm feeling about it. At the Jeep dealer, everyone in the Jeep service area thought the rack/lightbar was cool cause they had not seen a Commander with something like that yet.

I also added the skid plates on but didnt feel like climbing under the Jeep to snap a photo.

Parts on order or that have come in that are not installed yet: 4" SuperLift Kit, 17x8.5 wheels and 285/70R17 Tires, Rocky Road Slider Rocker Rails.

Here are the links to the items I have put on so far:

And yes, I am doing all this because I plan to put this Jeep on the trail. I have signed up for a few Jeep Jamborees to get my feet wet with a few fellow Jeep owners before I venture out on my own. Can't wait!

As for the D-ring, its a Baja part and it came from JcWhitney..link is in above post.

I have installed the door guards, new antenna, DVD player (inprogress), taillight guards since my last photos. The skid plates, Gibson and lift are on the garage floor along with the spacers and light brackets for the megawarrior.

Cant wait to see how yours comes out. Since your in AZ and I'm in NM, we will have to meet up some time with our completed Commanders and hit a trail or two.

Well I spoke with the rack company yesterday and they have a second generation bracket kit for the Commander now and have sent that on its way to me. It is to replace the bolt and washer setup you see in my previous pic. I also questioned why they sent me 6 brackets but only had location for 4 brackets and why in the photo on the site, they show that there should be a bracket mount in the center and I didnt have that. They say its because the web site is wrong...the 4'x5'x4" rack is what should be recommended for the Commander (not the 4'x4'x4" rack) the 4x5 has 3 mounts on each side. So they are also going to send a replacement for that. Finally I questioned the width in relation to the "L" brackets and how I could only get it to reach one bolt hole on each bracket. So with my help, they are getting it right for the Commander. Will update with new photos once this is corrected.

The Superslider Rockrails from Rocky Road came in today. Pretty easy to mount since the body seam has 6 bolt holes already available. Then the legs have 2 bolts each where you have to drill a hole into the frame.

Love everything ya got done and going to have done, BUT I really think the lightbar looks crappy up there. Either its too big or the lights are too small. Im leaning to the bar being oversized.

Hope ya dont mind honesty :)
