So i just picked up my commander from my cousin. 125k miles on it, V6 Sport AWD. Its in pretty good shape. has some cosmetic stuff that id like to take care of.

the roof rack rails are peeling, they look like powder coated aluminum? should i sand and spray matte black? plastic-dip?

i have some bubbles on the leading edge of the hood, is it aluminum or steel?

drivers mirror housing is cracked but the glass is good, to replace it the door panel has to come off right? how delicate are the door panels/plastic?

spare tire winch was seized so they cut the cable, i now have the spare floating around the trunk, any ideas on mounting the spare inside? or should i get a roof basket and chain it up there?

As far as the roof rack goes, I'd sand it down and spray it flat black, or paint it with black bed-liner finish, or Plasti-dip it - whatever your preference is really.

The hood is made out of steel not aluminum.

That’s a bummer, so the hood has some cancer/rot under the paint.

Sorry to hear about the issues. Post some pix and we can better advise. Sanding down and primer is always the first correct step. You could get some color matched paint, use it and add all kinds of accent to other parts.
