I am in the midst of trying to change the transfer case fluid on my 2006 5.7L Jeep Commander. It looks like a quart came out but I am only able to put back in a few pumps before it pours back out. I repositioned the hose a few times but I keep having the same problem.

As anyone had this problem? It seems like there is something blocking the fill plug hole and there is just a small slot for fluid to flow into the transfer case. Is there some trick to this? Even though I am pumping very slow am I pumping too fast? or am I supposed to put the transfer case in any particular position to fill it? I've never had a diff or transfer case be this difficult to fill. I have even jacked up the rear end of the car to help, but that does not work either.

Thanks in advance.

Figured it out! Looked in the fill plug hole with a flashlight and a mirror and noticed here is a metal piece (fork, gear?) just inside the fill plug hole. I placed the hose right on it, blocking the hose.
