Question about Mopar Tubular Side Steps (Nerf Bars)

Mopar makes two different tubular side steps for the Commander.

One is black and the other is chrome. My question is what material are the tubes made of? I'm getting confliting information.

Mopar site states "Premium Tubular Side Steps are constructed of lightweight anodized aluminum or powder-coated steel." but also has additional details stating:
  • Part # 82209871AE - Black Powder coated Aluminum, 4" Oval with black plastic step pads
  • Part # 82209872AE - Chromed Aluminum, 4" Oval with black plastic step pads
Are the black ones made out of steel or aluminum? Anyone know?

    I haven't been active on the board in awhile. My commander has been sitting mostly. I did decide to buy some wheels and add chrome door handle and mirror trim. The wheels are the usual SRT8 variety and they fit the commander well. Anyway here are a few pics and a before/after collage
